Chamberlains Worcester Armorial Crest Plate CAVENDISH DEVONSHIRE

Delightful Chamberlains Worcester porcelain plate.

Heavily embossed relief decoration,

with a wonderful clear glaze. Delicately painted scattered roses.

Serpent crest with "C" monogram, surmounted by a Baron's coronet.

Probably made for BARON CAVENDISH. A son or brother of the Duke of Devonshire 

in precedence, or a close realtion.

Anothe possibility is Charles Compton Cavendish, 1st Baron Chesham (1793-1863)

who  built Latimer House, Buckinghamshire. Completed in 1838 after a fire.

George Cavendish 1754-1834, who rebuilt Burlington House and arcade, London.

(Earl Burlington and Baron Cavendish from 1831)

Mark is 1816-1840 period.

Measures approx 10 inches wide.
